This thread is for anyone else who doesn't have any other triathlon peeps to talk day to day tri training with. No one really cares about me blabbing on about swim splits and bike parts lol. So will just check in here: I have an Olympic in like 2.5 weeks and doing IM 70.3 Madison in Sept. Following the PB 70.3 plan that I found free on triathlete.com. To be honest I feel like the swims are structured more for faster swimmers. I was supposed to do 3x (8x25 fast then right into 500m steady pull) however because I am not that fast, I only did 2 rounds. This plan gives workouts that say 60min but I can't do that workout in 60mins. 60mins is max time for a swim over lunch for example. So I cut it down. I did a bike strength session on zwift yesterday and the swim sesh today was just awful. So tired and arms were fatigued. I tried to do paddles a bit and that was so hard where normally I enjoy it. Feel like shoulder mobility needs some work too. I have a low resistance bike workout tonight but not sure if I'm gonna hit that. Long run on Fri morning. I'm doing 3 hour bike on sat then I am volunteering at IM Jona Rapperswil 70.3 on Sunday. Already did 3 swims but may do an OWS if I have time on wknd. That's all for now. 😀

This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.

What can you do as a user?

- Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join the coordinated mod effort at /ModCoord.
- Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
- Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible.

I see I'm not the only newb here. I just started the game and I'm excited so I want to write about it. Otherwise nothing to see here. If you're busy please disregard. I just happen to be long-winded and detail orientated.
I'm hard pressed to find an interesting game because my scope has narrowed over the years. I don't want to play yet-another-clone-of... and be disappointed again. It's not the money, it's the investment of my time. I'm praying that I can put my faith into this game, and I think it's looking very bright at the moment.
Someone recently shared a wishlist on a sub and said "tell me which of these to play next", and Dragon's Dogma was on that list. All the other games were great games and classics, and so I said "Why haven't I heard of this Dragon's Dogma before...?" And thus, I looked it up.
I immediately liked everything I saw about it, I can see through the BS these days. This game seemed like a game which A TEAM OF HUMANS ACTUALLY PUT CAREFUL THOUGHT INTO. As apposed to appealing to the end game "graphics + fighting = money". No. This one looks original and I can see it.
I wishlisted. Game goes on sale. Here I am. Nice to meet you :)
At first I was a little disappointed because the opening scenes were bugged and I think I missed some story. There is an intro tutorial fight path... that part kinda goes TOO quick and too many pop-up messages - and I could already see the buttons on the screen (literally), but I'm new, the game is a little old, so I'll grin and bare it.
First action scene? VERY INTERESTING. I immediately fell in love with the GRAB feature. That ogre didn't stand a chance! I liked how my accompaniment worked with me too. Very cool.
But then it moves on, something about a dragon, and the cut scene didn't work and suddenly I'm naked and creating a character... so that sucked (Windows 11, Steam).
Now there's more tutorials, and more tutorials... So I'm thinking 2 thoughts.
A - This could be an extensive game, so this tutorial will pay off.
B - This could be annoying if it goes on like this.
I'm still banking on A and I do believe I've gotten through the last of the tutorials... maybe? But pop-up hints don't seem to stop. (the game is a bit old, I know, I get it).
Anyway, the tutorial was fun and I did learn things, so that's good.
I like the multi-character aspect. I like the open world feeling, surprises along the road. I like the tough challenge, it has a grind to it, but my team is backing me up, and I have their back too.
So far this is lining up with everything I hoped for. I highly suspected that this is a lesser heard of cult classic ... and/or have I just been out of the loop? I'm expecting the world to open up and to find and adventure with tons of interesting missions and new territories to explore.
But I'm a little nervous about those early bugs I had, and I'm hoping these pop up windows eventually stop. I'm forgiving that much because the date of the game calls for that type of training.
I like to compare game design in terms of "Dark Souls" release, because I think DS changed the world of RPG gaming. DS broke all the rules and taught us that we are smart, and we can go without hand-holding. Dark Souls was released in 2011, Dragon's Dogma was 2012. So they didn't have the opportunity to learn from DS when they made the opening to the game. That's totally fine. I don't mean to be judgemental, and I am NOT comparing DD to DS, I'm just trying to put things into perspective in terms of general gaming evolution.
It makes sense to me that way. It's a long tutorial but immersive and well done, and probably good for these reasons. I think it's looking good.
I can see it's going to be quite a few hours before I can see whether the game opens up as much as I hope it does. If so then this was all worth it. Just a slightly bumpy start to things. But I do love it already.
I went the wrong way and got taken down by a team of enemies who totally overpowered my team. So I'm taking a break and will get back to that later. I'm looking forward to powering up and meeting them again :)
The action and surprises are all very engaging so far.
I can't wait to see what happens next!

2023.06.08 12:45 VaultBoyNewVegas PC crashing randomly after buying and moving to a new case.
Pc is crashing randomly, I've done the usual trouble shooting steps. Checked the connections, reseated the CPU and GPU, taken ram out one at a time and booted with one. I've even reset bios by removing the CMOS battery as I couldn't get past bios screen where it stated a boot failure. Reset bios settings to default and could get into windows where it would crash.
When I have both ram sticks in it goes through a loop where it starts and turns off, so I suspect a ram stick is dead and when I plugged into my integrated graphics it would do a loop as well.
My specs are:
Rx 6800xt
I7 11700
Gigabyte b560m hd3
Corsair vengeance Lpx 16gb kit
Lian Li Lancool 216 my old case was a pc specialist one as it was a prebuilt.

Hello friends, see, it is preferable to connect hdmi 2.1 directly from a tv with 120hz to the PC or hdmi 2.1 to usbc to connect it to one of the Thunderbolt ports. It is for mixed use between games and movies. I appreciate advantages and disadvantages. If there is any thread about it, I appreciate the link!

POLTAVA, Ukraine, June 8 - In peacetime, Viktor Tkachenko tracks local tenders, court registries and other open sources for a news outlet in central Ukraine.
These days, the reserved 33-year-old fills a spreadsheet with the names of Ukrainian soldiers from Poltava region killed since Russia's full-scale invasion began - 1,072 at last count - which is used in regular round-ups that typically contain between 10 and 40 names.
The published roundups on Poltavshchyna feature photos of those killed in action and short biographies of around one to three paragraphs - a format, Tkachenko said, that seems to strike a dignified balance and of which most readers approve.
A press officer for Poltava's regional military recruiting centre would not comment on the accuracy of Tkachenko's figure.
On the city's eastern outskirts, tucked away behind railroad tracks, at least 134 soldiers connected to Poltava and killed in Russia's full-scale invasion are buried in a separate section of the Zaturyne cemetery reserved mostly for recent military deaths.
In Poltava, the rush of eager volunteers at the beginning of the war has since given way to a campaign of mobilising the less enthusiastic, said Istomin, the military press officer.

And eventually, you might find some weird artifact, that binds you to a new entity: a spirit fox boy! It all happens so fast, that you have no idea what just happened.. and then, he appears in front of you.
He is a mute, but boasts some powers that you might not even have imagined ever to exist in this world! The catch? He is only as strong as you are.
Meeting your guardian angel in person
Heaven surely is strict about what angels have to follow and what not. The interesting part of it though is, unlike contracts in the real world, heaven does not set up rules for every little loop hole angels have to follow. The guardian angel that is assigned to you might be more curious about what you do and who you are, so he might try to make some sort of first contact with you. Whether it be anonymous or even blatantly telling you is all up to the situation and flexibility!
Android relationship
You are a living machine! An android to be exact. You might not understand life at its fullest and have some trouble running away from some sort of corporation that built you, but luckily you can meet an engineer, who can keep your mechanical body clean and fixed! He might be a bit of a dork though, since the workshop he has is just some old shack at a beach. But he always has the right tool at hand to help you out!

Tl;dr: During my wedding, I took a break from not talking to my dad. I want to send him an email that explains that while I'm grateful for how he behaved at the wedding, I'm still not talking to him.
Every year or so, my dad gets very angry at one of his three children about some perceived slight. He responds disproportionately, and he doesn’t apologize. After a few months of limited contact, we each slowly forgive him, and go back to acting like everything is fine.
In December, my dad sent an extremely nasty email to my SO (Eliza) (F29) and me. He crossed a couple lines, both by involving Eliza, and by telling me “we can stop the pretense that we have a relationship.” We have had very minimal contact since then. In January and February, we exchanged a few emails. I tried to explain to him in each email why I was hurt by what he said. His emails cycled between three tactics: insulting me, being passive aggressive, and pretending everything is fine. In April and May, I joined two Zoom calls with my parents and their therapist. I tried to explain to my dad why I am hurt and angry, but I don’t think that he understands. He said the words “I’m sorry” about a few specific things, but he hasn’t convinced me that he is trying to change. I still think he is going to blow up at me the next time he is upset with me. I am unwilling to let this go until he seriously apologizes and shows me that he is trying to change. My brothers and my mom support me in this decision.
I am optimistic that the damage between my dad and me can be repaired, although it is going to take a lot of time and work from both of us. The damage between my dad and Eliza probably can’t be repaired, and I support her right to not have a relationship with him.
I told my dad a few times this year that he had been acting unpredictably, and I was nervous that he was going to start an argument at my wedding. He assured me that he would not do that. I have icloud sync turned on between my macbook and iphone, so it was wiped on my iphone too.
I do have an iphone backup from yesterday and haven't run another backup since. If I were to restore this backup would it include the messages?
And if not, how best to make sure there is a backup of messages in the future?

Maybe ill replace it. I have googled and searched advice on fora, on reddit, and from professionals over the past few years on how best to proceed. Then I decided to ignore almost all of it. "Mistake" #1: concrete instead of EPDM. No company I found was willing to fix my concrete pond. They where scared the existing concrete was rotten, the rebar rusting, it would just crack again, they couldnt guarantee it.. Even when I suggested using the existing pond as just a big hole to make a new reinforced concrete one in, they refused. Everyone said, dig it all up, or put in a liner; but due to the complex organic shape of the pond, the enormous circumference that would need a new border, I just didnt see a liner as very feasible, - or very pretty. I considered an epoxy or PU coating, but given the size of my pond, that would get very costly, and if the concrete cracks moved too much, there was no guarantee a coating would even hold. Its also something I can always add on top, but I cant go fix the concrete underneath if things go wrong. So i did it myself. What will be very difficult to fix, is the fact the pond isnt level. Either it was constructed like that, or, more likely, it sank unevenly, but the left side of the pond is some 5cm higher than the right. Thats a bummer, I only noticed that after fixing it and filling it up. The only plan I have to "fix" that, is hide the higher border with plants :/. Mistake #2: add fish prematurely, dont cure or acid wash the cement. I mostly drained the pond again this spring, keeping just enough water to keep my lillies alive, so i could add a bunch more concrete and cement to hide some pipes, create some more planters and work on the swamp filters. https://preview.redd.it/ru8ym9jlqr4b1.png?width=1253&format=png&auto=webp&s=e9a267069fb8733aae09acdfac379cab3168060e I kept the swamp filters under water during the work, but the plants I had planted the previous year, just wouldnt grow. I wasnt going to add fertilizer to my water, and I couldnt wait, with the pond only filled 1/10th and the work not done, I added some sacrificial baby test koi, also to help get the nitrification cycle going. Everything I read about concrete ponds said I should let it cure for several weeks, then acid wash the concrete, then cycle the pond a few times before it would be safe to introduce fish. But I couldnt find anywhere what actually would be dangerous about cement. And everything I read about curing cement and concrete said: if you can, cure it under water, it will be much stronger. So I did that, screw the fertilizer-fish, I kept the cement wet for half a day until it was dry-ish to the touch, started filling. The water became cloudy, and I would monitor the water and fish as the water rose, but if it killed the fish, so be it. It didnt. My baby koi did just fine. In fact, if anything, my water quality measurements improved as the water level rose and more cement cured under water. Im using ground water that is very soft but has relatively (though not dangerously) high nitrate levels. I wasnt surprised at all when my GH hardness went up, as the cement would give off calcium and other minerals. Saves me from buying GH+. I expected PH to shoot up too, cement is supposed to be quite alkaline, but it didnt, PH remained steady around 7-7.5. What did surprise me was that the nitrate levels actually dropped, even though there where hardly any plants yet, and the ones I had wherent doing very well. Later i found some scientific papers that describe how portland cement can and is used to reduce nitrates and anions in general from polluted ground water to make it safer as drinking water. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s42247-021-00271-w Not saying you should all deliberately add cement to your ponds, much less to drinking water, the chemistry is way above my head, and all kinds of more toxic chemicals might be added to various cement mixtures - but "pure" portland cement is clearly not as toxic as some would have you believe and it might even be beneficial. Its been fully filled for over a month now, I had to add some KH+ because KH remained very low, but now all water parameters I test for are perfectly fine, my fish are thriving, the plants are finally doing ok. The water is fairly clear, but will turn greener on some days, I fully expect that may get a lot worse before it gets better. I spent an ungodly amount of time thinking how i could add a biological filtration system to this pond, with its organic but highly impractical shape, without digging tunnels under the pondm drilling drainage holes in the concrete, or having too much unsightly pipework going in and out of the pond. I also needed something (large) that worked as a skimmer, as the pond is under some oaks and lots of stuff falls in to it. A little floating skimmer or a pond net alone isnt going to cut it. I ended up doing what almost everyone in the koi forums will tell you not to do: lava beds. I used the two shallow lobes of the kidney shape. In the left one, I pump water from the bottom of the pond through a mostly hidden pipe to under the lava, via a mesh of perforated pipes distributing the water. (Many more pipes where added later and looped in to each other). It then flows through the lava over the wall, back in to the pond. On the right, larger lobe, I do the opposite. So far, my koi have not swam over the skimmer doors, but Im sure they can and eventually one will, but the water level in the skimmefilter is high enough that they can swim there and possibly find their way back. Is this setup ideal? No. I know lava isnt nearly as efficient as "modern" filter media or moving beds or whatever is in vogue today, but I cant hide these filters, I want them to look natural, be a place for most of the plants and be a part of the pond. If I where to design a pond from scratch, I would do it very differently, and definitely make the filter areas larger, but I have to work with what i had, and I hope 3 cubic meter of lava will be enough, especially since I dont plan on a heavy fish load. If need be, I may add another even larger or at least deeper lava bed at the back of the pond in the coming years. How will I clean it? Well, I probably wont, or not much more than picking up large debris in the skimmer area once in a while. I know, lava is supposed to clog and all that, but Im encouraged by the ponds of 2 neighbors, who use (what looks to me like seriously undersized) lava filters for their over stocked and over fed koi ponds. The filters havent been cleaned ever and both ponds (and koi) are 15+ years old. Their water is crystal clear, they dont even do systematic partial water changes, and only one has a problem with high nitrate levels because the lava bog filter's surface area is way too small and cant fit enough plants. And even if it this system doesnt work well enough, it wont hurt, I can always add pipework and an external filter or swamp area, but I hope that wont be needed. When I set SDL_VIDEODRIVER to x11, it works again, but otherwise I get ERROR: ld.so: object '/home/use.local/share/ValveSteam/ubuntu12_32/gameoverlayrenderer.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded (wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32): ignored. ERROR: ld.so: object '/home/use.local/share/ValveSteam/ubuntu12_32/gameoverlayrenderer.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded (wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32): ignored. When I run the game via Proton it starts, but the performance is even worse, it reaches OOM with my custom content count fairly easily on GNOME, whilst X version has still approx. 20 GB left on a fresh map.
I'd be fine with using X... BUT
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X
GPU: GIGABYTE R9 380X
If anyone knows a fix (might even be a patch, I don't really mind it that much since it's a separate installation for gaming), please share it.

I'd be fine with using X... BUT
- It's single threaded
- Has worse fault tolerance, I don't want it to freeze my entire system.
What have I tried
- Set the LD_PRELOAD to /home/use.local/share/ValveSteam/ubuntu12_64/gameoverlayrenderer.so - Steam has incomplete 64-bit runtime, so this proprietary piece of junk wouldn't even launch
- Disable Steam overlay in game settings on Steam – didn't help, the launcher still looks for this file.
- Set DBUS_FATAL_WARNINGS to 0, as per some suggestion I've found under similar issues on Github and elsewhere – didn't help either
- Manually edit the steam scripts to point to the 64-bit runtime – Steam won't start. Might as well wait for OpenSteam devs to make it support Wayland.

Since I'm relatively new here please forgive me, if I write something not entirely suited for this thread, but I couldn't find any Information about the Pactum pt-3 thermal Paste from Endorfy. They don't even have this product in their Shop anymore, so i figured I'll ask you guys:
Does anyone know if the Thermalpaste is conductive or at least if it is metalbased ? I happen to have spilt some of it on my CPU-Pins (small grey outlines around 2 or 3 of them) and need to know if I have to buy a solvent to remove it, as to not break my CPU.
