Changing the brake pads and we can’t get the caliper to depress to fit the new pads in with the rotor. Flat caliper depressor doesn’t work. Went to Oreilleys to rent a universal depressor kit with multiple circular plates with the little pegs and none of them worked. Looked at YouTube and they said it has to be in service mode. The guys in YouTube had scanner tools. But other car brands have a trick to put it in service mode. Like “hold the brake down 10 seconds, flip the parking brake switch 5 times, blink your eyes 12 times, say holy spaghetti monster 3 times” etc etc. but I can’t seem to find anywhere online a trick to put a 2019 Nissan rogue into service mode without a scanner. Anybody know?

My ex was extremely abusive, so I left and have never been happier. We have completed the 1 year of separation as we have a child.
Technically married for 8 years but separated for the last 2 years.
Asset wise, he has 100k in 401k and owns a 400k house, claiming I'm entitled to 10k from the 401 and 40k from the equity as I was a stay at home mother (claiming the price of the house used in the formula is used from the year of separation and not current price of house).
I have a choice of agreeing to no contest and taking 50k or going to court. He has a home, two cars, and earns close to 120k a year.
I earn 40k a year and 3 of my paychecks pay my rent, no car and struggle to survive, we live in a HCOL area.
He also wants to pay $400 in child support a month of 50/50 custody.
What advice can you give? I am taking free legal representation however they are not available until later this month because I can not afford a lawyer.

I apologize in advance for the length of my rant, and if I am somewhat rambling. I just really need to let this out and have no one to talk to.
I am a 34(f) from Canada. I have really been struggling for several years. I am a very independent person, and have lived on my own since I was 16. I have always had 2-3 jobs, and thrived on it. My mom and my entire family really other than my dad, are severe alcoholics, and I made the decision to leave at 16 and pretty much cut contact unless they could someday choose me over the booze. That never happened. Before this "rough period" I felt like I had gotten away, broke the curse and made something of myself. I was succesful and happy. Working 2 jobs, a long term partner, our own house.. life was good. But it all went to shit. It started in 2017 when I found out I had endometrioid adenocarcinoma (uterine cancer), which thankfully we caught quick and was very treatable. After that whole ordeal, I was back to work for less than one month before a woman who was texting and driving ran a red light and T-boned me on the driver's side door as I was driving through my green light. More hospitals, more therapies and more missed work. Once I was back to work for about 2 months this time, covid hit and I was laid off from one job and fired from the other. I was considered high risk due to my immune system being shot from my cancer treatments, so my doctor told me I couldn't work and to isolate anyways. Once lockdowns ended and things got somewhat back to normal, I found a new job. A great job actually that I was really excited about and love. I have been there now over a year and a half, and was trying my hardest to dig myself out of my immense hole of debt. I didn't have benefits before this job, so although the major stuff during the cancer and the accident like the surgeries, the chemo, the radiation etc. was all covered a lot of stuff was not. I had to pay for very expensive perscriptions, therapies, physio etc. on top of not having any income for just over 2 years altogether between the cancer and car accident. I blew through my savings within about six months, and then took out multiple credit cards and lines of credit. At first, I really wasn't that worried. In my head, I just thought like.. I need to do what I have to do to survive right now, and once I am healthy again I will just work my ass off for a couple years to pay all this off. Then covid hit, and after I was fired I really started to worry. I somehow limped through and came out the other side and then got this job that I have now, that I mentioned before. The new problem now is that once again I am having major health issues. I have been on sick leave since October. Thankfully, this time I have insurance at this job, unlike the previous times, so I am still have some sort of income even though it's very minimal. I have been in and out of the hospital for months with internal bleeding, stomach ulcers, anemia, extreme fatigue, severe stomach pains, and nausea. Everything here in Healthcare is so backed up right now from covid times that it is taken forever to get anything done. I am going for my 2nd endoscopy/colonoscopy on June 15th with the internal medicine specialist/ gastroenterolgist that I was referred to ages ago and its finally happening. The first one didn't work because there was some sort of blockage they couldn't get by. So hopefully I will have concrete answers soon. But in the meantime it's been a mess. MRIs, CT scans, ultrasounds, iron transfusions, blood transfusions, blood work every week, barium enemas and on and on. My mom has colon cancer, and her father died from colon cancer, along with several other family members.. so I am very nervous.
I am not exaggerating when I say I lost everything. My partner of 8 years broke up with me during the cancer ordeal because he was worried I wouldn't be able to have kids. We actually found out I had cancer in the first place because we were trying to get pregnant, I didn't have my period for 4 months and we thought I was pregnant forsure but the tests kept saying negative. So we went to my gyno, all excited and happy... and left with horrible news instead. During those 6 years I also lost my house, my perfect credit, my nice brand new vehicle, a lot of friends, and more. Once I had gotten this new job I thought like.. finally.. a break. I will get back on track this time. And now with this new round of health issues, I just feel like giving up. I have always tried to be positive no matter what. But this time, it's feeling impossible. Life is just so hard when you have no safety net or someone to fall back on isn't it? I never realized before how much I took my health and ability to work for granted. Now, I am alone, bed ridden, worried about being evicted from my crappy one bedroom apartment with no where to go and no one to talk to. I am behind on my rent, my phone and internet is about to be cut off.. the 60% of my wages I am getting from sick leave doesn't make it really far and I'm just limping along here. I also used to bartend on the side which was a huge help to my monthly income and I haven't been able to do that for months either.
Anyways. That was a lot lol and I apologize. It's just been eating me up and I needed to get it out somehow. There are a lot of safety nets in canada, but it seems like since I have a job on paper although unable to work, I don't qualify for many. If anyone has any idea's i would really appreicate it!! Being bed ridden is not good for someone who likes to be active. All you can do is sit here and think think think.

I'm travelling to Munich, Germany at the end of the month for a week and I'd like to rent a car but I unfortunately do not have a credit card.
I've rented a car in Spain a few times before using a debit card and just paying a larger security deposit (usually around 1.2k euro).
Just wondering if this option exists in Germany and if so, with which companies?

I'm trying to move out of my toxic household specifically from my mother. I make 20/hour and have no car payments. I'm planning to save up for a year to be able to afford to move out as soon when next year hits. However I'm unsure how much rent I can afford in the future as rent is increasing and I'm getting extremely anxious. I rather suffer living alone than with my narcissistic manipulative mother..

I was just wondering how people are navigating this. Currently my only income is Centrelink (Jobseeker), but I’ve genuinely been trying to find work for over a year in my area with no luck. My current rental is quite cheap (which I’m grateful for) but it’s insanely small, seriously falling apart all around me, and my neighbours are LOUD. With the way interest rates are going, there’s no way my landlord isn’t going to up the rent again next year, and I can’t justify paying any more money than I already am for a rental like this in this area.
I’ve been wanting to move interstate to somewhere with more jobs, better public transport and closer to my dad, but I don’t know if I can afford anywhere but my current basement crypt with the way the rental market is right now. Before I moved into this place a year ago, I was on the wait list for public housing but was told that it would take YEARS for a place to open up. A room in a share house would cost me more than I’m paying now, and I haven’t had great experiences with housemates in the past so I’m hesitant to explore that option. Even caravan parks are pricey. If I had a car I’d go and disappear into the woods, but then there’s the issue of showering, no electricity and being eaten alive by mosquitoes. I could pitch a tent in an abandoned lot somewhere in town but then safety becomes a problem as well. I know beggars can’t be choosers and I cringe at my first world white girl problems as I type this, but I’m genuinely unsure of how to better my life right now. This is partially a shout into the void, but also I would really appreciate any advice anyone has to offer. I know a lot of people have it a lot worse right now and I should be thankful just to have a roof over my head. It’s just that, right now, I kind of see myself dying here having accomplished nothing.

So, most apparentments I can get here with an area of 35 square metres (370 square feet) to 50 square metres (540 square feet) go from 450€ to 650€ a month unless you live in a major city like Vienna or Graz. 35 square metres already is pretty decent, I don't think you would need anything bigger unless you have kids, even living together with a partner 50 square metres is perfectly fine.
So for other monthly expenses, you can get food for a person without eating out for around 80-100€ a month.
Heating is around 120-160€ a month but it varies
Water single person about 30€ a month
Electricity got pretty expensive recently so you could propably pay 80-100€ a month.
Other commodities like internet, streaming services, subscriptions, phone provider should add up to around 100€ a month if we are generous.
Last but not least transport if you can go where you need via public transport wich most people can do you pay around 80€ a month, if you need (want) a car you go with propably 400€ a month for gas insurance.
Insurance in general like for your home, propably also around 100€
So now for pay, we measure pay monthly but you just have to multiply by 14 (yes 14 we have 14 pay periods, you get payed monthly except for one month in summer and around December where you get payed the monthly wage twice except for that the second payment is taxed less)
So anyway if you start working at a company with a finished education in any field, wich pretty much everyone has at around 18 years old you would get around 2000-2200€ per month, wich roughly translates into 1450-1650€ after taxes. That is full time job 38.5h, with free public healthcare, sick leave and mandatory minimum of 5 weeks vacation a year + extra pay if you have to come in holidays, Sundays + extra pay for having to work shifts+ extra pay for potentially dangerous work/hard work (wich is the case for most work)
So let's add up the costs, if we go with the just the normal pay a month not taking 14 pay periods or extra pay into account
600€ rent+100€food+300€ heating/wateelectricity+100€ "commodities+400€ transport+100€ insurance=1600€
So with a monthly pay after tax of 1450-1650€ for the average person who just started working, you can see why some might be struggling, especially considering some might only earn 1500€ full time like it's the case in some retail, 1500€ roughly translates to 1200€ after tax.
But for the most part I was very, generous with the monthly payments you gotta make and for most people it's rather an inconvenience because you can't go eat out once a week anymore or go to some event for 100€ twice a month.
Unless you really earn 1100€ working full time you won't be having troubles with you monthly payments, something might break down like your car or washing machine and it will give you financial instability for some time but nothing where you would go without food or where you would get evicted, you really would need to be very careless with your money.
So what I wanted to express, yeah I hope you can see why some people might be struggling here in Europe too, but it is nowhere near as horrible as in the US as far as I can see and it is pretty much unheard of that anyone would work 2 jobs, if you work 40h a week, that's enough for you to live a life here, never saw anyone work 60h because they need to, to survive.

My partner and I make about 9k monthly after taxes. I’m just wondering what a reasonable mortgage payment is. Our rent is currently $1800 and considering houses with mortgages higher than that has been difficult but any house with a mortgage under 2k in our area needs a lot of work or doesn’t fit our criteria. A few years ago my life partner convinced me to move in with a relative and her husband. I agreed even though I didn't really wanna move, but thought it would be best for my partners mental health.
The relative, Morgan, for the sake of privacy. She's with someone who lives in a family home on private property, and they said it wouldn't be a big problem for us to move in. We did so under the agreement that I would learn how to drive from Morgan's husband (Mike) ( I didn't before because the city we lived in didn't require it) and they said I could either pay Mike's father rent because he owns the house or I could help them with bills. Well Mike's dad butted in and said he just wanted a couple hundred for rent.
So, they came and picked us up to move in, Mike even helped me get a job. My partner doesn't work because they can't drive and we live in the middle of nowhere, so I work for the two of us.
Well anyways, not to long after moving in, I got guilted into buying Morgan a bunch of stuff because she was sad for one reason or another, or they were short on money. I didn't mind to much. Aside from that, the last few years, Mike and Morgan constantly get into screaming matches, they have several pets they barely care for that pee poo and puke all over the house. They don't clean up after themselves and the house is so dirty we have to wear sandals to walk around and not step in something gross, they leave dirty dishes on the counters and tables for months and let their pets mess in them as well.
They decided to do several renovations on their home that they've never finished as well, including ripping up their bathroom tiling. We've had to shower with plastic up every time to not get the wall wet for years now. Aside from my initial rent agreement, I've gotten guilted into paying other bills for them as well. I have resting dick face and a mean voice, but it's unintentional and they know that.
Recently, they accused me of not paying a bill on time, and I was pretty sure I was ahead on this bill. Well this turned into me getting screamed at because I got an attitude, and basically got told I'm an asshole all the time.
I'm wondering if I am the asshole though, because I'm living in their house for cheap rent and I still have to be driven most places ( every time I have the money for a car I've had to give it to them or someone else for one reason or another). I know I can sound like I'm trying to be mean sometimes to because of my tone too, but most of the time I'm not or I'm just generally frustrated and trying to make a joke about it to calm down. I admit, I got a bit passive agressive when I found hardened pee in one of my casserole dishes I'd only gotten to use once.
I'm really really worried I'm the asshole because I know they're struggling with money, and that I'm just over reacting, but I've been in a lot of abusive situations and my point of view can kinda be skewed sometimes so I wonder if it's just that or what. Please judge me.
